What is Acupuncture?

The history of acupuncture can be traced back through 4,000 years in China.    According to Traditional Chinese    Medical Theory, acupuncture promotes the body’s innate ability to heal itself by regulating and balancing the flow of Qi (energy) along defined channels within the body. Tiny, disposable, sterile

needles are inserted along these channels at areas of maximum energy –

the acupuncture points. The needles are extremely fine and cause very little

discomfort. Needling sensation is usually felt as a heaviness or tingling or warmth at the point after needle insertion. Most patients find acupuncture treatments  relaxing and refreshing.

Chinese herbology, likewise, has an ancient history in China, and is used to bring the body back into healthy balance. Herbal formulas, which consist usually of a mixture of 4-10 herbs, are designed for specific patients and conditions as needed.
